FarmShare at Callicoon NY Art Walk this Saturday 12–8pm

at the Callicoon Weigh Station, opening October 10 , 2015

FarmShare is a decentralized platform for community-supported agriculture (CSA) organizations, using the blockchain to tokenize shares and enable community governance.

Consensys and Stratum are teaming up to build FarmShare, a blockchain community-supported agriculture platform that will enable communities to buy, sell and trade cryptographic tokens that can be exchanged for weekly deliveries of locally produced organic food. The project is an evolution of the CSA model that has been around for decades, which takes advantage of the blockchain’s potential for creating new forms of community property ownership, collaborative labor relationships, and locally-oriented alternative economies.

This weekend, work from the ongoing project will be on display at the Callicoon Weigh Station and Silos, as part of the Callicoon Art Walk in the Upper Delaware River Valley of New York. Stratum will be building an automated aquaponic prototype at the Weigh Station over the next month through a series of public workshops aimed at engaging the community and introducing the concepts behind FarmShare.
